congressman-michael-mccaulthumbnail1.jpgA tip of the chapeau for Joan W for alerting us to this further development in the Karachi Kids story that we have posted on.

No sooner did the “Karachi Kids”, Noor and Mahboob Kahn arrive at Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport last Thursday, then Texas Congressman, Michael McCaul (R-10th Dist.) and several co-sponsors introduced legislation in the US House of Representatives requesting that our government act to identify and bring back the remaining 78 American Muslim students at Jamia Binoria Deobandi Madrassa and hundreds of other American students at similar radical religious indoctrination centers in Pakistan. H.R. 1336 seeks the assistance of the Department of State to work with the government of Pakistan to obtain the release and repatriation of American Muslim students who have been recruited illegally under Pakistan Law to attend these radical madrassas. ACT! members might wish to inform their Congressional representatives so that, they can sign up as co-sponsors of this Congressional Resolution. Among the initial co-sponsors of H.R. 1336 are:

Rep. Dan Burton [R-IN]
Rep. Eric Cantor [R-VA]
Rep. Elton Gallegly [R-CA]
Rep. William Shuster [R-PA].

The return of the Kahn boys and the resulting spotlight thrown on the indoctrination of American teens and transformation into Taliban ‘robots’ would not have occurred, had it not been for the persistence of multifacted and talented filmmaker and executive producer of “Karachi Kids’, Inram Raza and co-executive producer, Ericka Pertierra. It took a meeting with President Musharraf and the new civilian government of Pakistan by Rep. McCaul that triggered the release and return of the Kahn boys to Atlanta. They and the other American boys at the infamous Jamia Binoria madrassa and similar Deobandi madrassas will have to go through some form of deprogramming and reintegration in American society. Unfortunately, the parents were responsible for giving their assent to recruiting Muftis from these Deobandi Taliban schools in Pakistan. One way to prevent this from re-occurring is to deny H-1 visas for these radical clerics to come to the US, something that our State Department might consider doing by establishing a registry of them on a list of terrorist enablers.

Nonetheless, H.R. 1336 should attention to a topic that has evaded the purview of both our government and that of Pakistan.

Bravo to Rep. MCaul and the bill’s co-sponsors and filmmaker Raza. Brava to Ms. Pertierra.

Parents who send their children to Pakistani madrassas for indoctrination into radical Islam should be investigated, and if found guilty, their US citizenship should be revoked.

(Atlanta, GA) — Responding to the release of the film the “Karachi Kids”, U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) has introduced legislation seeking an accounting of how many American children in in radical Islamic madrassas in Pakistan. H.Res 1336 encourages “the United States Secretary of State to work with the government of Pakistan to secure the return to the United States of all American children being educated in madrassas in Pakistan.”

The legislation was introduced as a response to the release of the film the “Karachi Kids,” a documentary of American children in a Taliban-backed madrassa in Karachi, Pakistan. The former deputy director of counterterrorism at the FBI said the film also raised the “antennae of the FBI.”

The resolution H. Res. 1336 [overview, full text] “Encouraging the United States Secretary of State to work with the Government of Pakistan to secure the return to the United States of all American children being educated in madrassas in Pakistan” was introduced on July 10, 2008.

Are the Democrats uninvolved in this matter or what? Pretty telling, isn’t it?
