Rima Barakat, anti-Israel, terrorist supporter in Colorado House Contest. Will Israel supporter Josh Sharf stop her?

by Jerry Gordon

rima-barakat.jpgjoshua-sharf.jpgWe have posted on Palestinian terror supporter and self-proclaimed ‘conservative’ Muslim Rima Barakat- Sinclair who won a narrow GOP nomination in a Colorado House District Six seat. That spurred on Orthodox Jew, web designer and ‘real’ conservative, Josh Sharf to get his name on the ballot through a successful petition campaign certified by the Colorado Secretary of State that forced a primary election in August. ‘Rima the victim’ isn’t happy. She told a GOP meeting in a recent post, that she thinks that everyone is against Arabs, Muslims and immigrants.

FrontPageMagazine has published a dossier par excellence on Rima Barakat-Sinclair by John Parrazo of Discover the Network. Read it here. Ms. Barakat - Sinclair is anything but a ‘victim ‘ but a fellow traveler of pro-Palestinain terror groups.

Note what Parazzo says about her visit to the late mass murderer, Yassir Arafat during a visit as a CNN contract translator:

<ol>
While working as a contract translator for CNN in 2003, Mrs. Barakat-Sinclair was part of an interfaith delegation of Christians and Muslims who paid a friendly visit to Yasser Arafat at his Ramallah headquarters, where, since December 2001, Israeli troops had been keeping him under virtual house arrest in an effort to derail his terrorist activities. Favorably impressed by the most prolific Jew-killer since Adolph Hitler, Barakat-Sinclair would later reflect: “I know the accusations about him [Arafat] supporting terror, but he was so confined and surrounded that to me it seemed more like visiting a tourist attraction than visiting a head of state. It was very, very weird.” Arafat’s main message to his visitors, she expanded, was that he felt “robbed of his legacy” because “the peace process had not gone forward.” Added the star-struck woman, “He [Arafat] flirted [with me] a bit, in a very nice way, you know, saying, ‘I like your hair, your long braids.’”

So, while the Barakat-Sinclair versus Sharf primary fight looks like a sideshow, given the largely Democratic registration in this predominately Jewish district in Denver, it is not. It is an illustration of how far Muslim extremists will go to insinuate the political process from the lowest level up.

That is why, in our humble opinion, that the Sharf candidacy for the GOP nomination in Colorado House District six has to be made into a national cause celebre.

Already there are intimations of what the Palestinian extremists are up to in this Colorado House contest. Look at this ‘petition drive for Barakat, here. Note the ’spin’ painting her at the ‘oh so’ tolerant ‘victim of Christian and Jewish extremists’:

    To: Media and politicians

Citizens of Israel and Human Rights Advocates from throughout the world,
Condemn the Recent Religious and Ethnic Attacks Targeting a Colorado State House Candidate.

Rima, an American with Palestinian ethnic background, was selected to run for the Colorado State House seat. In Colorado, she’s known for her interfaith participation to bring about better understanding among members of the Abrahamic faiths. She is an advocate for a just and peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has spoken against targeting civilians.

Soon after Rima’s nomination to run for office, Christian right and Jewish extremists have launched a character assassination campaign against her. She has been called “a Palestinian cockroach”, “a terror apologist” and worse. The silence of religious moderates and secular organizations has magnified the influence of this small group.

We deplore such bigoted statements against individuals on the basis of their faith or ethnicity, be they Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, or members of other faiths. We stand in opposition to those who advocate intolerance. We condemn those individuals who insist on perpetuating destructive stereotypes that aim to divide the communities and create suspicion and hate among members of different faiths and races.

Holding to our democratic ideals and our human rights values, we believe it is imperative that faith and political leaders, in Colorado and elsewhere, send a strong message of rejection to those voices of extremism. Understanding and respecting our diversity is key to building bridges and working together peacefully for a better future.

We call on people to join us by signing this petition denouncing personal attacks and character defamation based on racial and religious prejudice.

(this petition was created initially by Elana Wesley and over 80 signatures collected separately. If you sent Elana your signature before and do not see it here, please go ahead and sign.)

    Sincerely,

We note that in the Parazzo FrontPageMagazine piece, he cites Barakat-Sinclair’s appearance at an Israel bashing and anti-Semitic Sabeel conference in Denver in 2005 with Anglican Canon Naim Ateek. That happened to have been one in which ACT Christian Zionists showed up at the Central Presbyterian Church causes sputtering scatology and demands for them to retreat with their massed Israeli flags. Our members from Greeley, Colorado didn’t retreat. Ms. Barakat-Sinclair was inside the Central Presbyterian Church spewing hate.

Read about what I wrote about the Sabeel Liberation Theology event in Denver here.

Here’s what Parazzo reported about Barakat-Sinclair’s appearance at the 2005 Sabeel event:

Barakat-Sinclair was a key participant in an October 2005 conference sponsored by Sabeel, a Jerusalem-based organization that supports a “one-state solution” to the Arab-Israeli conflict, where Israel would continue to exist, but not as a Jewish state. Barakat-Sinclair led a workshop on the topic of the so-called “Right of Return” of those Palestinian refugees who (for the most part) voluntarily had left the region during the 1948 Arab invasion of Israel. Barakat-Sinclair now calls for the re-admittance not only of the relatively few surviving people who were among those 725,000 original refugees, but also for the admittance of several millions of their descendants, a move that would transform Israel overnight into an Arab-majority state dominated by Muslims sympathetic with the aims of Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

Then there is this from the Palestinian moonbats on the anti-Israel International Solidarity Movement blog about “Rima the victim” written by my nemesis, the infamous Mazin Qumsiyeh, the ex-Yale Medical School genetics lab head denied tenure, in part, for his patent anti-Semitic email capers

ACTION 1: Sign Petition in support of Rima Sinclair Barakat who is running for office and has received significant attacks from racists and bigots. The petition challenges the smear campaign.

So, Rima Barakat-Sinclair can try and dupe the uninitiated in the mile high city. Denverites in House District Six already have her number. Over 907 signed Josh Sharf’s petition. That was enough to get it certified by the Colorado Secretary of State and pit him against terrorist supporter Barakat-Sinclair in the August GOP primary. We hope that best man wins, if you get my drift.
