U.A.C Victory Over Central Florida Classroom Jihadist Missionaries. Bravo!

uac-logo.jpgAlan Kornman and the United American Committee (UAC) in Central Florida has scored one for grass roots action. They nailed a group that went under the radar screen to proselytize Islam in the Seminole County School System through the Dividend Program and Speakers Bureau. The Islamist group, Academy for Islamic Learning (ALI) came to Sanford, Florida a year ago from Canada. ALI allegedly has ties to Syria, Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Alan Kornman commented to us in a phone interview:

The SCSS simple didn’t do any vetting of ALI, the program and persons involved.

Note this from the UAC news release:

The Seminole County School Board admitted that A.L.I. missionaries wrongly presented Islam specific religious material in violation of separation of Church and State laws. Equally unsettling, the three A.L.I. missionaries were never screened before being allowed access to the students in violation of the Dividends Programs safety rules.

Among the more disturbing discoveries was the ‘battle plan’ of the A.L.I. backer, The Tabligh Task Force. Dan Fenter of the Central Florida UAC said :

The United American Committee of Central Florida has uncovered what we call a battle plan for cultural jihad within the state of Florida. The Tabligh Task Force was co authored by Hasnain Kassimalli who runs the ALI in Sanford Florida. This group has went into the public school system to flat out preach Islam. We have stopped them in Seminole county. Take note on page 4 of their target groups, children and youths are dead center. Also on page 6, a giant bullseye right on Central Florida.

The Tabligh Jamaat (conveying in Arabic) is an apolitical and missionaries sect established in South Asia and associated in Deobandism, a Muslim revivalist section started in India. Tabligh is most prominently associated with the building of a large Mosque in London for the proposed 2012 Olympics. Britain appears to be one of the sect’s larger bases in Europe. Tabligh is engaged in Muslim outreach, so for it to be engaged in the type of program uncovered by the Central Florida UAC represents a major departure of the sect’s goals of outreach to Muslims, a major departure from its beliefs.

Fenter also revealed another skewed textbook on Islam approved in 2006 by the State of Florida textbook depository for drawn down by local school districts published by Holt: “World History; A Human Journey.” Fenter noted in an email:

There are 25 plus pages dedicated to a discussion of Islam and only one page each on Christianity and Judaism. The front cover of the book displays the CNN news logo which might explain why at the end of the book there are sections on the terrorist detainees at Guantanamo Bay and how they are being held without charges or legal representation. This text book is biased and should be removed from Florida public schools.

Perhaps the Holt world history text should be vetted by the American Textbook Council that recently reported on the Sewall Commission’s finding about biased treatment of Islam by major US publishers.

Bravo to the Central Florida UAC contingent for uncovering this patent violation of separation of Church (Mosque) and State provisions of our Constitution and patent proselytizing of youngsters in the Seminole County School System.

United American Committee, May 19, 2008

For Immediate Release

The Central Florida chapter of the United American Committee uncovered a cultural Jihad happening within the Seminole County school system earlier this month. The UAC found out the public school system was allowing a group called A.L.I. (Academy for learning Islam) to speak in the classroom under a program called the Dividends Program & Speakers Bureau. A.L.I. moved its headquarters less than one year ago to Sanford, FL from Canada and has ties to Syria, Iran, and Saudi Arabia.

Upon investigation the U.A.C. of Central Florida uncovered information on their school infiltration plan and notified Eric Rasmussen of Chanel 9 News. Chanel 9 News aired the story speaking to parents, a School Board rep, and Hasnain Kassamali of A.L.I. The overwhelming response from students and parents alike were against the Academy For Learning Islam and their attempts at cultural indoctrination of unsuspecting students to the tenets of Islamic religious and political doctrine. http://www.wftv.com/news/15982456/detail.html

The concerned parents and students provided information to the U.A.C. which included a PDF file of a history book that contained approximately 38 pages on Islam but only one each on Christians and Jews. The U.A.C. questions this blatant disregard for equal access when textbooks favor Islam over the other world religions.

540 AM WFLA radio talk show host Bud Heddinger spent one hour discussing the subject. Mr. Heddinger’s producer contacted A.L.I. to get their side of the story but nobody would agree to an interview.

BREAKING NEWS: The Academy For Learning Islam (A.L.I.) has been permanently removed the Dividends and Speaker’s Bureau programs of the Seminole County Public School System. We are extremely proud of this victory and could not have done it alone. All the people who wrote emails, made phone calls, and spoke to the school board, your messages were heard loud and clear. This is a significant accomplishment removing A.L.I.s’ access to Seminole County students after repeatedly violating the school boards rules.

We will be closely monitoring Hasnain Kassamali and the Academy For Learning Islam assuring their strict compliance with SCPS guidelines. The United American Committee is a non-partisan secular organization. We encourage all local Muslim leaders and concerned parents to join with us in building bridges to ensure a safer more secure America. Join the United American Committee today and be a part of the solution.
