Illegal alien FBI agent/translator who illegally accessed files on Hizballah investigations gets no jail time, $750 fine
comment by Jerry Gordon
Well, Judge Cohn in the Detroit Federal District Court let Hezbo sister, marriage fraudster and former CIA and FBI translator, Nadia Nadim Prouty go without not much of a slap on the wrist. Either he doesn’t get it, or more likely there was a deal cooked up with Federal prosecutors to spare embarrassment to both the FBI and CIA for not having caught her earlier.
The comment posted to this Detroit Free Press article on this story says it all about the translator scandal and our ‘broken’ counter terrorism apparatus.

This is why our Middle East counter intelligence is so compromised - trusting someone who is obviously un-trustworthy! I bet you she is still employed by CIA or FBI because they cannot find enough citizens in this country who are fluent in foreign languages.
Wake up and strengthen our foreign language training programs in high schools and colleges.
Last night during an ACT TownHall forum with more than 1,400 ACT members, executive director Guy Rodgers cited findings from a nationwide scientific survey. One of the questions dealt with bias in favor of hiring Muslims as translators for the FBI and other federal national security agencies. More than 69% of respondents in the survey indicated that discrimination against hiring qualified Christian, Jews and apostate Muslim translators should be a priority for Congressional attention. Given the results of Judge Cohn’s ruling yesterday, it doesn’t appear that our government viewed Prouty as ‘unreliable’ given the facts to the contrary. We trust that Rep. Sue Myrick, author of the laudatory “Wake Up America” agenda and perhaps, Senator Joseph Lieberman of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee will get the import of both yesterday’s Detroit Federal court decision in the Prouty matter and the findings from the ACT national issues survey on the translator scandal released last night. A Congressional investigation into this matter is long overdue. As suggested by Rep. Myrick this requires what we have argued for, a GAO audit and hearing on the translator hiring discrimination and scandal.
A tip of the hat to Bob at JihadWatch for alerting us to this story.
Woman spared jail, fined in conspiracy case
by David Ashenfelter, Detroit Free Press, May 13, 2008
A former Detroit-area woman who engaged in a sham marriage to obtain U.S. citizenship and obtained key jobs in the CIA and FBI was fined $750 but given no jail time today by a federal judge.
U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn blasted media coverage of Nada Prouty’s indictment, which he said was fueled by government news releases, and said it distorted the circumstances behind the charges against Prouty. Cohn said Prouty, who lives in suburban Washington, served the United States with distinction in Iraq and elsewhere, at times placing herself in peril on behalf of her adopted country.
Prouty, formerly of Taylor, had faced up to six months in prison for conspiring to defraud the United States in obtaining citizenship and making unauthorized accesses to an FBI computer system to find out if she or her family members — including brother-in-law Talal Chahine — were being investigated by the federal government. Chahine is the fugitive owner of the La Shish restaurant chain.
