Love to Brigitte from Naomi Ragen in Israel
By Jerry Gordon
This morning when I opened up my email there it was. A note sent out by Naomi Ragen to her vast email list. In it Ragen had a web link to Brigitte’s response to the ‘slamming’ by UJC head, Howard Rieger, and the JTA article about the kerfuffle at the West Palm Beach Jewish Federation event when a woman in the audience asked “was Obama anti-Semitic”. The ACT post was entitled “Sacrificing Clarity on the Altar of Appeasement”.
Who is Naomi Ragen?
Naomi Ragen is an American-born novelist and playwright who has lived in Jerusalem since 1971. She has published seven internationally best-selling novels, and is the author of a hit play. Naomi also publishes a regular column that deals with Jewish subjects, especially Israel.
Ragen was among the first to endorse Brigitte Gabriel’s bestselling book, Because They Hate and recommend to her list members that they buy it. Brigitte has sent a personal note of thanks back to Naomi.
But that wasn’t the end of it. We immediately got swamped with emails from Naomi’s list members with more flooding in by the hour. I have culled out some of the immediate responses that demonstrate Jews are in solidarity with Brigitte and Naomi.
It is heartening to see this development, because it means that many Jews are sick and tired of Community leaders who don’t know a friend when they see one like Brigitte. Nor do these leaders understand the peril that both America and Israel are facing from the threat of radical extremist Islam. A threat about which both Brigitte and Naomi are clear-eyed. Nor do they understand the problematic candidacy of Democratic frontrunner, Barack Obama who has a history of supporting Palestinian interests, while paying lip service to Israel and the broken mantra of “two states living side by side in Peace” – a veritable fiction.
Ragen’s expression of support has made our day at ACT because it speaks volumes about standing up for the truth.
Here is what Naomi Ragen sent her list.
Love Obama, hate Israel’s friends? Sickening.
By Naomi Ragen
Friends,
Now I’ve heard everything. Those in the American Jewish community who are so cravenly anxious to find favor with their “liberal”, Times-reading, Israel-bashing friends that they are willing to bash a friend to Israel like Brigitte Gabriel because she points out a few problems with their new shining light,
Barack Hussein Obama, make me sick. Truly, they are willing to join the ranks of cowards and
idiots sacrificing truth on the altar of appeasement.
I want to apologize personally to Brigitte for every miserable Jew who complained to her about telling the truth about Obama. You are my sister, Brigitte, and these Jews have forgotten who are they, and what Judaism stands for. They have forgotten that Hitler didn’t make Jews fill out questionnaires about their beliefs before he filled up the cattle cars.
I hope everyone on my list buys your wonderful book, “Because They Hate”. I hope everyone on my list sends you a letter of support (go to her website).
I love you Brigitte.
Naomi
Here are some of the Emails from Naomi list members to the ACT website that came from Israel, Canada and America
Dear Brigitte,
Naomi Regan circulated your report of the reaction to your Q & A response regarding the troubling aspects of Sen. Obama’s ties to his spiritual mentor. All I can say is 3 cheers (loud and long) for you! Would there were many more like you. I am a sincere admirer of your valor and candor and no-nonsense approach that gives the lie to all who would firmly implant their heads in the sand and pretend unpleasant realities don’t exist or can be talked into oblivion. Do not be discouraged by those Jews who follow the debasing, defeatist path of appeasement.
As we say in Hebrew “Yishar Kochech” Blessed be you and may you go from strength to strength - showered by all the gifts of heaven.
A Rabbi from
Jerusalem
Brigitte, I just received Naomi Ragen’s email and I applaud you as always and am distressed at these cool-aid drinking leaders who have large followings. As I wrote to Naomi, I feel that you either had to be born someplace else or live somewhere other than America to see this picture clearly. Here people are naive and stupid.
I copy below my attempt to question the leaders’ sanity, but I haven’t received any response from any of them. I guess I never will. However, we still need to keep trying.
Hope all is well with you, fond regards,
Susanne
We are so lucky to have you tell the TRUTH and hopefully wake some people up before it’s too late.
For some reason, people are swept away by Obama now. I am hopeful, with news from people like you, Brigitte, and others who are trying to point out his “Change” has not been clearly identified, his true liberal views and his Israeli views will truly be identified before election day.
Thank you Brigitte and please continue your wonderful work. Please feel sorry for all the Jews who don’t quite realize how insightful and wise you are! Thank you for all you do and please keep up your great efforts!
Linda
Dear Ms. Gabriel:
I just read your piece on Barack Obama that was circulated by Naomi Regan. My own take on it is that we should never underestimate the power of White guilt, especially on Jews. The fact is that Sen. Obama has gotten a free pass through the campaign. By comparison to the critiques leveled by Republicans against each other, or by Democrats against Sen. Clinton, Sen. Obama has been treated with kid gloves. Any effort to question his record, his statements or anything else is quickly labeled racist, causing the questioner to back off. It’s astonishing that he has been able to skate as far as he has.
He is clearly a masterful politician with a brilliant mind. He is one of the best speakers on the political scene today and seems to be extremely thoughtful by nature. His associations, however, cause a great deal of concern from several perspectives. A return to Carter-style foreign policy would be a disaster for the US and for Israel. What I find particularly curious though is that his Jewish supporters have allowed him to get this far into the campaign without insisting on a clear declaration of the principles by which he would deal with Israel. His silence on the subject is very troubling.
In any event, keep up the good work. Your voice of clarity is essential. G-d bless.
David
Shame on those IDIOTIC left wing Jews who do not appreciate your heroism and support for Israel and democracy!
Please know that rational and level-headed Jews love you and are grateful for all you do!
Stay Strong!
G.
Hello dear Brigitte Gabriel,
I have long been a fan of absolutely ANYTHING that you write that I can
get my hands upon! But today’s letter forwarded by Naomi Regan takes
the cake!
Please consider this post a vote of confidence and sincere appreciation
for everything that you do in the name of truth, and in support of
Israel and the Jewish people.
May G-d reward you for all your efforts!
Be blessed,
~Rivka from Israel
Hello Brigitte:
Many, many thanks for your excellent and hard work. I’ll be getting
your new book just as soon as I can.
One consideration concerning the Federations - and I’m speaking as an
involved Jew they represent no one but themselves. They are self-
styled and self-”Elected” and govern without any transparency or
accountability whatsoever. When presented with the “opportunity” to
argue that they are doing the community good (which they are not - all
they can do is Sell (opportunities for once-humble philanthropists to
honor themselves) and Spend (on big salaries, nice offices (named for
“Philanthropic leaders”) and fly Executive class all over the world)
they run away with their tails between their legs.
Since you have demonstrated so much courage I suggest that you stick
to your message.
All my very best,
Wayne from Canada
I became aware of your views from an email I received from Naomi Ragen. I am an American Jew who is amazed at the attitude of my friends and family, most of whom are successful and well educated Jews. For some reason, being a Liberal is far more important to them than the fact that the Democratic party will probably be nominating a man who will destroy Israel and possibly create an environment in this country that will take away much of the freedom and comfort that today’s American Jews enjoy.
I, like you, am an Independent. I make decisions based on the person, not on the party. It is clear to me that Obama is most likely an Anti-Semite and therefore a clear danger to every Jew. I can’t understand how my fellow Jews are blinded to that fact. I am embarrassed to admit that my 47 year old daughter has told me that even though she is not happy with Obama, she cannot vote for anyone other than a Democrat. Her Ivy League education, the education we paid for and took such pride in, has taught her NOT to think. I used to think of myself as a liberal, but the definition of liberal has changed and for some reason, no one recognizes that.
I am sorry that you have been assailed by my fellow Jews. There are many of us who understand and share your view.
